Adopt - A - Monument (AAM) |
|
Rajasthan – the royal land of Incredible India remarkably
symbolizes vibrant attires, charming people, enriched
culture and magnificent heritage.
Intricately crafted forts,
palaces, temples and buildings are an inseparable part of
the state’s historical heritage. The breathtaking beauty
of historical edifices leaves spectators spellbound and
persuades them to visit the state again and again. These
monuments bear a testimony to the glorious past of
Rajasthan and epitomize its gallant tradition.
Rajasthan’s historical structures have been enduring the
heat of sun, drops of rain and shivers of winter with
every change in season. And with the passage of time, some
monuments too have weathered standing today in fragile
condition. The government of Rajasthan has been
continually making efforts to preserve this valuable
legacy of past. Over the years, many conservation works
have been undertaken by the state government to protect
and maintain the ancient monuments. But the task has been
colossal.
To preserve the rich heritage, Government of Rajasthan has
called upon NRIs, Non-resident Rajasthanis, Individuals,
Organisations and Corporate houses to sponsor the
conservation works of fragile monuments. Adopt- a-Monument
scheme of Rajasthan government has been launched as an
instrument of public-private participation for preserving
this rich heritage. The scheme envisages adoption of a
monument by any person with a view to restoring and
thereafter maintaining it for a period of 10 years in
accordance with a conservation plan drawn by the Dept. for
Art & Culture.
Under the scheme, state government has created a Heritage
Fund to finance the different conservation projects.
Individuals and business houses can make contributions to
this fund to support the endeavours of the state.
Rajasthan government offers an exceptional publicity
mileage to the donors through the plaques advertising
their contribution on the site. Corporate houses too can
project their donations in their advertisements. On one
hand, a high level steering committee of government
ensures the regular supervision of the sponsored
conservation projects; while on the other; yearly audit
reports guarantee the rightful use of the donated fund.
Reaching out to people, the government has initiated the
process of seeking public co-operation for heritage
conservation. Undoubtedly, adoption of monuments by
private entities would strengthen Rajasthan Government’s
resolve to preserve our historical treasure of heritage
monuments for the future generations. |

hermit's curse was meant to destroy it.
But words proved as feeble as invading armies. |
